WHAT IS THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE?

Alexander Technique can help with a number of health and wellbeing issues including:

  • Neck and back pain
  • Breathing and public speaking problems
  • Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
  • Stress
  • Muscular weakness
  • Painful stiff joints
  • Pregnancy
  • Postural alignment
  • Focus
  • Child Development
  • Elderly

It helps us become aware of and overcome harmful postural habits in daily activities such as: sitting, standing, walking, bending and working at a desk.

As adults, we have the same muscles and skeletal framework we had as children. We are using them differently as a result of bad habits. These are acquired throughout our lives which can cause compression of the spine, muscle spasms and trapped nerves.

Cristina explains verbally and places hands on your body, including your neck and spineto release unwanted tensions.

You are fully clothed during the lesson, and there is no need to wear any particular clothing.

British Medical Journal (BMJ) trials prove that:

Alexander Technique reduces back pain.

Dr Paul Little of the British Medical Association (BMA) referred to trials with 579 patients at 64 GP’S surgeries, who were experiencing back pain.

Patients reported less pain, better quality of life and they were able to do things which previously had been difficult, such as walking normally, getting out and about and doing household jobs.

Back pain can be eased through teaching the Alexander Technique by improving posture, balance and co-ordination.

The Alexander Technique is suitable for pregnant women, children, teenagers, adults and the over 70’s.
