Cycling Biomechanical Assessments & Bike Set Ups
Correct bike set up is critical to maximising performance and preventing injury
Common cycling related injuries treated by physiotherapists include neck, back, knee, hip, wrist and hand complaints, many of which can been avoided with the right set up and knowledge
As the weather improves and the days lengthen all you cyclists will start to hit the tarmac. In preparation for this, the team at Physio in the City are currently conducting cycling assessments
Each 90 minute initial session with a Physiotherapist at our city clinic will include:
- A Musculoskeletal screening - an assessment of strength & flexibility in all areas vital to cycling.
- A Bike Set Up - Using a turbo trainer, the bike is set up to specifications that take into account cycling discipline, injury history and musculoskeletal assessment findings. The aim is to obtain a riding position that minimises the risk of injury for each rider, whilst still obtaining the benefits of good aerodynamics and force production at the pedal.
- Individualised exercise program - an exercise program is designed for each person to address any deficits identified during the screening and bike set up.
You will be provided with a summary sheet for each of the components listed above
Clients are asked to bring their own bike, the normal shoes worn whilst cycling, and comfortable clothing (shorts or cycling attire is ideal)
The cost of the initial session is £150.00
Health Insurance companies may cover the cost as part of your Physiotherapy treatment if your injury is cycling related
